Unfortunately, both scenarios are possible. Having them in the original bottles and a bringing a doctor's note will help, but there appear to be instances of people being arrested, anyway. Have you tried contacting the Kazakhstan Embassy or Consulate?

You would not believe the amount of people over on the various Cruise subreddits asking about bringing medication into the US from Mexico.  They explain that the medication in question is illegal in the US, a controlled substance, or not approved by the FDA. They ask if they can just sneak it in and want to know how thoroughly customs will check through their possessions. Then want to know if they could be in trouble or if the medication would just be seized!

Time and time again I, and others, remind the posters that bringing medication into the US that is not FDA approved or is an illegal or controlled substance is called drug smuggling! ,It's not just hiding medication, lol!

Tajikistan and Azerbaijan are both at a increased security levels for Americans traveling there. The Azerbaijan info also says that in some parts of the country there is limited ability for the State Department to assist. All that to say that when there is this type of uncertainty be prepared for a non-optimal experience. 

Register with the State Department's STEP traveler program. You can also get additional information about taking meds into a country on the state department's website.

I would attempt requesting approval from the Kazakhstan ministry of health. Because either it doesn't need approval and they will tell you that it doesn't, or it does need approval and that's where you get the approval, or it's completely illegal and can't be appropriate and they will tell you that. The other countries you're going to should have something similar, as well. Most countries have some sort of health ministry or administration where you request approval for bringing in certain prescriptions.

You can also try contacting the national center for expertise. That's something specific for Kazakhstan.

That said, I definitely wouldn't recommend traveling to these places with the kinds of meds you take.

Every jail has legal aid cell where legal aid lawyers perform pro bono service. He must’ve used those services to get bail.

He would’ve made friends inside, once they got out, they would’ve helped him get out by applying for his bail and giving surety.

I don't know the facts of your case but one of my friends was arrested on allegations of murder of a person found dead in his room, he was also unconscious when the police arrived. He claimed he didn't know how she died. Neighbour gave a statement that there was a lot of screaming happening in my friends room. He was arrested / beaten up for 6 days while the police awaited the autopsy report. The report concluded that the lady died because of rupture of stomach ulcers. He was let go without any lawyer being involved.

He can find a lawyer by himself there are multiple ways(legal) like a legal cell or maybe he could be his own lawyer while it's not that simple and straight forward but he can.

Without any lawyers help, its absolutely impossible. He will need to pay the lawyer to fight his case of bail and in murder cases judges don't easily grant bail before 2-3 years unless you are the son of an influential politician or you send a few gandhiji to judges. Even Manu Sharma was granted parole after three years, thou by the govt not court. 

If his family did not assist him than he either himself had money or he made a deal with some influential gangster in jail.

At the very least you need to bribe the judge but you can keep requesting bail hearings every week - Our system is a bit ridiculous, the only blocker is paying off the guards to take you back and forth to the Court so often.  But with sufficient money yes anything is possible.
